April 11, 1980: Poetic Apprentice

April 11: Another nice compliment yesterday, Sue Rhynhart put her hand on my knee & said, “I love to hear you read. You sound so . . . that I feel right there with you when you read.” Don’t know what she meant really but we were in a roomful of people and all I could do was blush, drop my head and tell her that was very nice of her to say & that she was sweet. She asked if I spent a lot of time with Allen and I didn’t know what to say so said “I don’t know . . . I guess so . . I like him . . . he’s so nice and patient with me.” She was happy with her evaluation from Allen & I told her he liked her. She said she felt she really bombed at her last reading and was very embarrassed.
